Hello,

I just upgraded from R5C7 to R5E50 and am having some problems getting my display set up correctly. I am outputting to a Boxlight 20HD projector via DVI. I need to disable EDID as the projector transmitts that it can only handle up to 1024x768 when it actually does 1360x768. So, I made all of the changes to my xorg.conf file, input the proper modeline that I had been using and added the option to "UseEDID" "FALSE". However, no matter what I change I only get 800x600. I also tried to set the "ModeValidation" to "NoEDIDModes"

Here is the pertinent section of my Xorg.0.log with the ModeValidation change:
Code:

Try adding this to your xorg.conf.

Option "MetaModes" "1024x768"

Xorg should start now with the right mode that you are looking for.

Well I tried adding
Code:
Option "MetaModes" "1024x768"
and alternatively
Code:
Option "MetaModes" "1360x768"
but I get the same errors as above with the additional line of
Code:
(WW) NVIDIA(0): No valid modes for "1024x768"; removing.

I tried using the MetaModes in both scenarios: Completely ignoring the EDID data, and just ignoring the EDID modes.

Any other ideas?

I did a few more searches on the errors I was receiving and one forum suggested the use of the "ExactModeTimingsDVI" option. Once I set that as TRUE in my device section everything started working.

Hopefully this helps someone else as well.

I've been running into the same problem with a Sony KDL-40V2500 (1080p set). The modeline is present for the 1920x1080 resolution but it won't set it when X starts.

I then tried:

nvidia-xconfig --mode=nvidia-auto-select

which is supposed to choose an "appropriate" resolution. In my case it went with 1400x1050, which did work. But that of course is a nice 4:3 aspect ratio - not exactly what I was after ;)

I'll try what you posted when I get home from work... thanks for the tip.
