I noticed that the Dragon 2.0 requires a Chaintech soundcard for spdif output, even though the Dragon motherboard itself has a toslink output. Is there a reason for this?

I ask because I've been suffering audio dropouts (mostly, but not exclusively, with XvMC) with my motherboard's toslink output. Is there something about a sound card that makes it easier for Myth to passthrough digital sound?

I only use Myth to watch OTA ATSC. I've tried all the usual checking and unchecking of extra audio buffering, aggressive sound card buffering, etc. Nothing eliminates these audio dropouts.

I'm using an Intel D945GTPLR mobo, with a P4 3.2 Ghz HT, 1 GB RAM, geforce 7600GS. I'm running R5E50.

Of course :) See https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa- ... hp?id=2672 for details.
