There are a couple sales on at Circuit City & CompUSA for the Hauppauge HVR-1600 ( < $100 ). It appears to be an atsc tuner & a 150 combined into one board. Nice idea and I have seen some notes suggesting that even though some folks had ordered the 150 card, were actually given the 1600.

Also it is suggested that it does not work with linux and therefore folks are unhappy with the switch.

It was also mentioned that the MythDora does support it which suggests the ivtv folks have been busy Has anyone run into this card and are there any KM success stories?

I have been looking at getting another PVR-150 also and the reviews on newegg are saying the HVR-1600 doesn't work in myth. Does anyone have any experience with the HVR-1600 and how it compares to the current pvr-150's?

I just opened my new 150 (or so it said on the box) from Amazon and it's actually the hvr1600. Anyone have any success with this? I think it's going right back to Amazon, and that it's pretty sleazy for Hauppauge to do this.

Actually if the proper driver can be located it may be a good thing as you also have the hd tuner.. From what I have read, Hauppauge ran short of the 150 cards over the holiday and subsituted the "better" card as a token. They do supply a cd for windows and I don't think they actually claim to support linux.

I still have mine and if time permits I plan to check for a newer v4l driver. It will only be a matter of time as those guys do miricles with new hardware. It was just the surprise element..

I just drove almost 2 hours to Fry's and back because I had bought an open box PVR-150 last week and it turned out to be an HVR-1600. I assumed someone had switched out the cards when they returned it and wanted the right card. I get home with the new box clearly marked PVR-150 and what do I get? Another HVR-1600 card.

What a huge waste of time. I only discovered the card was wrong after working for hours trying to configure it and then upgrading to R5E50 a second time (never got remote or OSD to work last time).

For what it's worth, I called Amazon and explained the situation. They promised to open the box of another one, verify that it was indeed a 150, and send me a new one with a return label for the old. The new one arrived unopened, but it is indeed a 150. It could have been dumb luck on their part, but I finally got what I wanted. There are still some 150's floating around there.
