Hi,

My KnoppMyth box has two DVD drives - one writer and one reader.

Is there a way to get MythDVD to play DVDs from either drive? Currently I've setup MythDVD to just play from /dev/hdc (the reader), but it would be nice if it could play from either drive.

I've tried putting "/dev/hdc, /dev/hdd" but then it still only reads from /dev/hdc.

Any ideas on how to do this - or is it not currently possible?

Daniel

The version of MythTV currently used in KnoppMyth doesn't, but the latest version should if you have "Monitor CD/DVD drives" enabled.

Note1: I haven't tested this, but inserting a disk in either drive should make that be the drive that is selected for playing

Note2: As you have found out, specifying multiple drives in the DVD playback settings doesn't work. If there is no valid device there, the player (Xine/mplayer/internal) won't be able to find a drive to close the tray of and try to play

Thanks Nigel.

In R5E50 you can have "Monitor CD/DVD drives" enabled - and I do. In my settings I've told it to open the CD/DVD menu when a DVD is enabled. This sometimes works, though at other times it seems to mount the DVD and show me the directories on it in some sort of File Browser.

It's not too much of a hassle anyway, because it's probably best to use my reader for playing DVDs and save the writer for writing.

That file browser is MythGallery - a photo viewer. Sometimes if the CD/VCD/DVD can't be mounted, the monitoring logic thinks it is a data disk, and assumes it is full of photos, thus opening the relevant plugin.

These bugs are being worked on. Hopefully that one will be fixed in the final KnoppMythR5, and the multiple DVD thing should be in MythTV 0.21

Thanks Nigel.

Roll on 0.21, looking forward to it!
