I am really enjoying my PVR 150 and R5b7. I have one niggling little problem and I can't seem to pin down the reason for it.

I use a cable box that uses channel 3 for output and thanks to help received here, I use an irblaster to control the channel changing. When running mythtv-setup, I have noticed that I must set both the preset tuner channel and the starting channel to three, start mythtv and verify picture in live tv and then go back and enter the channel change script path. After that everything works, until reboot.

After reboot, the live tv and and recordings are just static/snow. Entering mythtv-setup, removing channel change script and entering 3 for preset and start channel and then starting mythtv the live tv works fine. I can then go to mythtv-setup and enter the path to the channel change script and everthing works fine again. I have to do this everytime I have to reboot the system for some reason.

Anyone have any insight to this little problem> :?

No insight, but I have the exact same problem.

I'm using a PVR 250 with a Motorola DCT 2524, when I reboot the knoppmyth box goes to some channel other than channel 3 resulting in static. Channel changes on the box get sent to the DCT 2524, so I have to remove the channel change command then flip to 3, then readd it....

Thank you for confirming the problem! Now I know it is not just me! I am just glad that I figured it out. The problem almost makes it appear that the tuner card is dead and that is definitely not the case.

Hi guys,

Did you ever resolve this issue? I'm having the same problem, with my Motorola cable box and R5D1. I've found a potential workaround at http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... hange+snow

it involves manually forcing a channel change for the tuner after each reboot. I was hoping this might have been logged as an issue, or that you guys might have learned more in the recent months. Thanks!

No, I never did get a resolution. I just avoid rebooting the box.

I suspected that it was a problem with the fact that my cable lineup has a french channel as channel 3, and I have it turned off on my cable lineup. I don't want myth recording french programming. Often the program names are the same as the english ones. So perhaps myth was seeing the channel as "not valid"?

As stupid as it may sound, my DCT 2500 appears to have no option to change the output to channel 4 instead of 3, I thought that may be a way of fixing it too.

I'll apply one of the workarounds in the post that you linked too..

I am running into this same problem. I am using R5C7 with a PVR-150 and an FX 5200 with an IR Blaster, so fairly standard hardware. I always just fiddled with the channel change script / preset tuner settings to make this go away with each restart, but it wasn't until I just saw this thread that I realized what was going on.

My (hopefully temporary) fix was one of the work arounds mentioned in the above thread, just thought I'd mention that I'm experiencing the same thing.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the suggestions to fix this problem. Once I knew what it was, I was able to quickly fix it! :D

I decided to add ivtv-tune -c 3 to my bootmisc.sh.

Now I no longer fear rebooting!
