Hi,
I built a PVR box with Knoppmyth R5A16 about a year and a half ago. My setup is basically a 120GB HD+PVR250+PVR150 with the ivtv-0.4 drivers using tv-out to a television. Everything has been working fine until this morning. I was watching live tv from my other linux box (conneting to my PVR over the network using mythfrontend) when live tv suddenly froze. After a soft reboot there was no change. Live tv continues to fail to show anything. Previous recordings play well, but new recordings don't work. Remotely accessing the mythtv backend using mythfrontend from my other PC shows the following errors upon attemptingt o view livetv:
http://pastebin.ca/444827
syslog shows a large number of errors of the type (hitherto unseen)
Quote:
Apr 17 06:25:57 mythtv kernel: ivtv0 warning: ENC Stream 0 OVERFLOW #639841: Stealing a Buffer, 512 currently allocated
XFree86.0.log shows a large number of errors of the type:
Quote:
(EE) IVTVDEV(0): FBIOBLANK: Invalid argument
The output of the command:
dmesg | egrep -i "ivtv|btt|vid}"
shows:
http://pastebin.ca/444844
Cold-rebooting did not solve this problem.
The remote frontend uses mythtv-frontend-0.18.1-3.1.102mdk
The mythtv version on the Knoppmyth settop box is version 0.18.1.20050510-1
I STFW'ed a bit and saw that one possibility is that the PVR cards have become dusty or damaged and cleaning them may solve the problem. I cleaned the cards thoroughly and restarted the set-top box but no change. Are there any other reasons why this could have happened?
If it is a config issue, then is it advisable to upgrade to a newer version of Knoppmyth? I had to go through merry hell to get stuff to work with R5A16, with recompiling lirc and manually configging keybindings to get the Hauppauge silver remote to work+manually compile & config ivtv drivers etc. (though I gather that a lot of that stuff has been automated in newer versions).
I would be very grateful if I could get some pointers as to the best way for me to proceed in resolving this.
