Hey everyone,

This is my first attempt at MythTV and everything is going pretty well except that 1) The display is too large for my screen (this I know how to fix, gotta mess with modelines and such) and

2) During playback there is what looks like a translucent bar that scrolls from the bottom of the screen to the top over and over. Any ideas on what causes this/how to fix it?

NOTE: I'm playing this on an older tv that is 640x480 so the generated X config file probably isn't correct. Would correcting my modeline fix this?

Also, any links to a guide for people that are new to video would be really helpful.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi,
That is typically cause by a grounding issue between tv and some other connection. Often if you have one device plugged into one outlet and a different (computer?) into different outlet, there is a difference of potential and you see the 60 htz difference of the 59.94 hertz vert sweep.

More common with older homes.

Both the TV and Computer are plugged into the same surge protector. Anything else that could cause this?

Hi

Try disconnecting antenna, audio amp, anything that has an external metal connection. Process of elimination..
