I have 2 DVB-T cards (one brooktree and one conexant based) and both have been working well for sometime now. However, when I powered down the machine today, to try to upgrade the soundcard (SBLive to SBAudigy), one of my DVB cards stopped working, and even though I have put the old soundcard back.

In mythbackend.log I see



and when I run mythtv-setup and look at the config for the brooktree card it says something very similar to


In the middle of the details on the screen.

However, linux reports BOTH cards as it boots. It lists both the brooktree and connexant devices.

Also if I try to add a new card in mythtv-setup, when I select card 1, the same error, Could not open card #1 subtype, is reported.

So I am looking for clues as to what is happening, and how to go about fixing this. I am not certain how putting in the new soundcard could have triggered this, it may be just coincidence. The new soundcard didn't seem to work, although I will pursue that later after I get the DVB card working again - it's much higher priority

Edit: I just realised there is only one subdirectory in /dev/dvb and that is /dev/dvb/adapter0. Looks like adapter1 is not being created anymore - trouble is I do not know much about how this all works. Can anyone help please?

Edit2: I should have noted that I am running R5E50

Edit3: lspci indicates that the card is there. I am starting to think it is udev not doing the right thing. Could this be so

Still trying to fix this. It seems the required modules



are all loaded - checked using lsmod.

As a desperate try, I swapped the position of the card (actually swapped it with the soundcard) and it caused knoppmyth to ask for the root password and run myth-setup on the next boot. Nothing seems to have changed, the card is still there, modules loaded, but no /dev/dvb/adapter1 (only adapter0 for the conexant card)
