I've given up on trying to use the god-awful search feature of this forum. It seems to give me the same search results no matter what keywords I put in, from "Hard drive not being detected" to "How do you switch to composite?"

Anyways, I set up my Mythbox, and after hours of troubleshooting with random problems that were easy to fix, I finally got it working. But as I progressed through the troubleshooting, I noticed my remote response getting worse and worse. At first, it worked flawlessly, never skipped a button press. Then it did every once in a while, then it almost always required me to press a button 10 times before it did anything, and now it is completely dead. Over a period of 2 days

I have the IR remote that came with my Hauppauge PVR-150. I've replaced the batteries just to see if the batteries were bad when I got them, but still, the remote does nothing. I can't imagine it being a software issue considering it wasn't a working/non-working issue. It was a gradual drop of reception. Anyone ever hear of this before? It's driving me crazy!

Again, Please see the R5F1 hints link below. It is intended as a central reference of common issues and solutions, and probably answers 95% of the questions that have come up in the forums about R5F1.

Specifically regarding your question, it contains a link to the thread which addresses the PVR remote issues.

Sounds like you've missed the "Search for all terms" radio button...

I've done everything I found on the forums to fix this problem, but still no solution. I haven't actually had the remote even partially working like it was when I first started, when it required you to press buttons 10 times to get it to work. It is just flat out dead now. I am pulling my hair out. The hints and hazards section had a lot of things to do, but none seemed to work. Any other ideas?

Which remote did you select during setup (run /usr/local/bin/lirc-reconfig.sh)? Hauppauge has shipped a number of different remotes with their x50s, which do you have?

I selected the Hauppauge PVR-150 receiver and transmitter (dog bone). I have the silver dogbone remote according to all the pictures i've seen. It appears I have discovered my problem, and it seems to be a conflict between the way I connect my speakers and the remote. Very strange...I started a different thread for that.
