Hi all! First post and first KM build attempt so forgive me if this is a repost or in the wrong location.

Here is the question. I got what I feel is a pretty good deal on the Eagle Tech CA-EC2 chassis. Comes with an integrated VFD and ione remote. Got it on the Egg yesterday using the $20 off $100. IF I get the rebate, it will come out to $26 something shipped. Now the specs say "Windows XP 2005 MCE status blue LCD display". So, my real interest is in using KM for my build, but I cannot find any information on Eagle Tech VFDs on the site, Good or Bad? Is there anyone out there who has used this in their KM build? Thanks to all who offer any advice, again, Good or Bad!

It looks like a 2x20 from the pictures and that cable in the other pictures look like a parallel cable. It's probably hd44780 compatible by the looks of things.

The fans on the back are a little small so they may end up being a little loud, but for the price it's hard to beat.

Thanks. I did not even think to look at the cables in the pictures closer... As for the fans, yeah, I am not sure how bad that will be just yet. I figure, if I get the rebate, and it is too loud for me, I can always just ebay it and search for a better case... Or, with the small amount of money I will have invested in it anyway, I can always hack the back of the case up if there is room to put a single larger fan there. :)

Now you've got me thinking about getting one. My old myth box is not running because something failed in the box. I have pulled the ram and it's running in my current desktop, but seams to be a little flaky. I think it's either my old mainboard or the processor that have failed so I started looking after you pointed out that case. With the prices of ram and other parts these days you can put together a nice box for under $400.

My issue is that I can do that or just buy a refurbished Dell from their site and put myth on that and have a box that I don't have to do anything with other than stick it in the cabinet.

Yeah, It was one of those things where the total price was just too much of a good buy. I conned the wife into buying a nicer TV for the family room, so the older LCD and the new box go into the play room...well, that is my play room, not my sons! It also did not hurt that I still have a lot of the components (HDD/memory/mobo) laying around from last years Black Friday...... I know I know, I am a sucker for a good deal though.
