I recently upgraded my PVR with a new EPIA board and a fresh install of R5F27. Since the upgrade, the output from my PVR-250 has been garbled. The sound is fine, but the picture is a mess - it shifts horizontally and vertically, there are lines in both directions, and the colors are off.

If I cat /dev/video0 to a file and play that it looks the same. Video not captured from the PVR-250 (movie trailers, etc) plays just fine, so I suspect it's an issue with my IVTV drivers. I don't see anything obvious in the logs:

I've disabled saa7115 to speed up my remote and I'm currently running on the vesa driver, but otherwise this is a completely stock install. Has anyone seen this before? Am I missing something incredibly obvious?

Hi,
Are you in pal land? TV standards NTSC(M) That would most likely give the symptoms you discribe.

I have the exact same problem with PVR-500. I have been trying to figure out a way to down rev ivtv to no success.

After doing some investigation I found the problem. You need to set your capture resolution to 720x480. To do this you first need to issue the following command:

v4l2-ctl --set-fmt-video=width=720,height=480

Next you need to edit your recording profiles and set your capture resolutions to 720x480 as well.

Now if someone could figure out for me why my video disappears every time I turn the TV off and on, or move away from the mythtv video input.

This _is_ called out in the R5F27 Hints, specifically Known Issue #4. Please read them.

BTW - The correct way to make this change is via the recording profiles in setup...
