Since upgrading to R5F27, my integrated remote IR no longer works on my home theatre set top box. Checking dmesg, I am guessing it is due to this error I am now getting:

usb 5-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71
usb 5-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71
usb 5-2: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4
usb 5-2: device not accepting address 4, error -71
usb 5-2: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5
usb 5-2: device not accepting address 5, error -71

The IR sensor connects to USB pins on the motherboard. Any idea how I can get this working? Do I need to somehow go back to the previous version of uchci_hcd that was on the previous knoppmyth distribution? (My remote worked fine on that one). This is a "keyboard driver" remote, so
does not require lirc.

here is what lsusb reports:

Bus 007 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 003: ID 1241:f761 Belkin
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

(Belkin is, I believe, my usb wireless keyboard, which does still work).

Thanks for any help!

Cal

I booted from the R5E50 cd, and just booted up the LIVE FrontEnd, to verify the remote still works from that distro, and it does.

lsusb correctly lists 2 devices on R5E50, and there are no Error -71 errors in dmesg.

I don't have any idea to figure out what got upgraded that I either need to downgrade, or fix however. I am guessing the uhci_hcd driver?

I had to edit /etc/modules and had to reverse the load order of the usb modules. I have uhci_hcd load first, and then ehci_hcd.

I found a similar problem on the usb drivers mailing list, and that was the fix for their issue. Not sure why this works, exept that maybe ehci_hcd is for older usb devices, and so had to be the last module to load so it had control of my usb device?
