Hi,

To get an idea where this could go, check http://mlt.sourceforge.net/

Since you have a 350 card, suggest building a system using R5C7. Use static ips so you can find things, setup up with dhcp then reset to a static address.

The R5C7 recordings are mpg and play very nicely using vlc (on a windows box) Set up samba and then with explorer
\\<ip of desired-myth-box> \myth\pretty\show-desired may need login:passwd depending on your setup The earlier R5 files are also mpg recordings however have the extension .nuv. I copy recordings I like to save in to /myth/video and change the extension during the trip. Take the thumbnail .png along for a cover page.

The record playback quality of the 350 exceeds the 3/4 by leaps. The hetrodyne process raised cane with the video high end response.

There are a lot of tricks KnoppMyth will do. Build one, play with it, dig into it and then you can make your own decisions.

Mike

Hello all,
Yes, this is a big project.
Has anyone used the Plextor external USB encoder boxes?
As I mentioned earlier, I'll be using the composit/S-video inputs. Cable TV is of no use to me.

So here's the latest idea: One machine (a newer Dell) with as many Plextor 402 mpeg4 encoder boxes as it handle, say 4. I'm guessing the bottleneck will be at the USB, and I may need to look into extra USB2 cards.

Anyone use multiple 402 units? How do you monitor what you are recording?
We make 10-20 recordings per day and in about 10 different classrooms, so obviously one PVR isn't going to cut it. To recap, we have a full A/V patchbay with video and audio mixers. We need to replace a bank of VCRs and wish to take this recorded footage and stream it using Darwin Streaming Server.
Thanks in advance.
