I was just looking at these as an option to extend my network to my garage...but...looking at the price, it might be simpler to just feed a network cable through the underground pipe with the power.

Though, I'm not sure about the interference, or how well a network cable will handle -35c weather in the winter...

Running ethernet and power through the same conduit sets up a condition generically described as cross-talk and very meaningfully degrades networking performance. As in, as slow as my powerline ethernet adapters.

-35c? That's a very interesting problem. There is such a thing as outdoor rated ethernet cable. It's gel-filled and may work for you.

Another choice I've not researched enough is ethernet over coax. (as in cable tv coax.) Any early adopters on this one?

I'm kind of hijacking your thread here :)

I live in Canada...winters are cold :)

As for speed, I'm not concerned out there, it's probably just going to go to a wireless hub so my car can keep it's music synced with myth.

*pfft* code. I'm not worried about code for a network cable...if that code even exists up here.

Code is for safety... Your network equipment is not rated for the voltage that is on your power cable. If for some reason the insulation broke down on your power cable (and this does happen) you may end up with 120V (or more, I think Canada uses the same power distribution as US...) on your network cable. This could cause damage to your computers, routers, etc and even potentially start a fire in your house. I would hope that you would be a bit more concerned about safety...
