I have a x1600 card that i would love to use. It would save me from buying a new card. I have the (ATI) DVI to Component adapter that works in knoppmyth, BUT with the current drivers I only get VESA driver so my hd playback is like 20 fps tops. The New driver off ATIs site supports my card but does it work in knoppmyth? If i use dvi out then i really dont need tv out correct?[rant] I just want to mark this project as "done". Time and time again linux proves to be a thorn in my side.[/rant]

Yes, the latest linux drivers from ATI should do the trick for you. And you don't need TV out.
