Post subject: | The "right" video card |
I'm gearing a cheapo 400sc up to be a Myth box and have a question regarding video out. Is there a hand's down best bang-for-the-buck video card I should get to handle video output? I see a lot of talk about gf4-440mx cards, but I'm not clear on which brand is best. I'm actually currently considering this card (which is actually an fx5200) http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDe ... 180&depa=0 anybody have experience with this card? Will this give me good video output? Can I do better? Is the better worth any headaches or does it work "out of the box"? For the record, I'm not looking for kick-ass 3d performance here...just something adequate to get the Myth interface onto my TV. I've got a PVR-350 BTW, but given my general lack of Linux experience I figured I'd go for the NVidia tv-out solution off the bat and see if I can work the 350 output in once I gain a better working knowledge of the system. Sorry for all the noob questions/rambling. I searched quite a bit but couldn't really find clear answers here or in usenet. This is really the last thing standing between me and PVR-hood. Any advice or reference to info would be great. Thanks! [/i] |
