Post subject: | Convert to LVM |
Hi, I searched the forum and googled but didn't find what I am looking for. Is there an easy way to convert an existing non-LVM system to LVM? I really would like to avoid reinstalling my R4 system as it is working nicely but would like to combine my /dev/hda4 and /dev/hdb1 into a single "volume" (if thats the right term). I read over the LVM howto but it looks pretty complex and I was wondering if there was a utility or script that could convert a system "as is" over to LVM. I have a KnoppMyth installed on /dev/hda[1-4] (80GB) with /dev/hda4 as /video. I added a second hard drive at /dev/hdb1 (200GB) mounted as /myth Anyone have any ideas? THANKS IN ADVANCE, and as usual, KNOPPMYTH ROCKS!! Andrew Lynch |

Did you take a look at http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=766&highlight=lvm While I haven't done this, it seems fairly straight forward. |

I did look it over earlier, however, it assumes that the second drive added (/dev/hdb1) is new and blank. What I would like to do is convert and existing /dev/hdb1 partition, mounted as /myth with lots of recorded data, to LVM so that I can "combine" it with /dev/hda4 (the old /myth). Is this possible with preexisting data? Thanks! Andrew Lynch |
