I'm getting an error whenever the firmware is loaded for the second tuner on my PVR-500-MCE I'm pretty new to this so I apologize in advance if this doesn't make sense.

I'm running R5D1 and didn't run into any other problems I couldn't solve with help from here and knoppmythwiki.

The first tuner works great and there are no problems with image quality, etc.

Here's the error I'm getting from the ivtv.log file:

tveeprom 2-0050: Encountered bad packet header [ff]. Corrupt or not a Hauppauge eeprom.

Here's the whole logfile:

That definitely looks screwy. You may want to try upgrading to the 0.7.1 drtiver following the directions on this wiki page to see if it helps: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CompileIvtv See the notes in the 2nd paragraph for what steps to do for 0.7.1 on R5D1. Unfortunately there's not anything promising in the change notes: http://dl.ivtvdriver.org/ivtv/stable/ChangeLog-0.7 so I'd call that less than a 1 in 10 chanc eof helping.

On the other hand I've found some related threads in the ivtv mailing list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/ivtv-users@ivtvdriver.org/msg04384.html

Googling for "pvr 500 samsung" may also provide some clues. Oh and see this thread, which I found by using those search terms in the forums: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11871&highlight=pvr500+samsung

Thanks for your help. I tried updating my driver to 0.7.1 and I still received the same error. I tried doing a reinstall and searched through the IVTV mailing list. Do you have any other ideas I can try?

Thanks again,
Nick

Just the usual hardware troubleshooting stuff. Take the card out, blow it off, inspect it to be sure that the card is clean (no possibly conductive bits of grit, or flakes of metal lodged anywhere)... Put the card back in, make sure it's seated properly, try another slot, ... You may simply have a bad card.

Oh, and check over on the ivtv mailing lists for similar reports.
