Hey I'm new to this whole DVR / PVR thing, but I really want do it. After some reading I have a couple of questions.

1.) To watch & record tv at the same time, would I need 2 cards?
2.) Given that right now, I have a digital cable box, how would that factor into the mix? Would my coax cable go to that first, and out from the cable box to the PVR, and then out from the PVR to my TV?

Yes.

If you are using a digital box _that_ rather than your TV or PVR is you effective tuner. You need an effective tuner per stream that you want to capture/view.
