I'd like to use the low profile version of the PVR-150, but it doesn't come with a remote (or IR receiver/transmitter?).

What should I do for a remote then? Should I get/build one of those IR receiver/transmitters that go in your serial port, and then can I use any remote? Or is it better to go with something else?

Before you go to far on this low-profile card, do you know for fact, that your system will support the low-profile card? Most standard cases do not allow you to fit this card into systems, because the length of the backplane attachment is shorter than standard PCI cards. Now if you have a low-profile case, then obviously all this wasted.

As for your question about a remote, building one would probably be the most inexpensive method.
