Fresh install of R5D1. I was using an ATI TV Wonder PCI card which worked fine. I upgraded that to a Compro VideoMate TV Gold Plus before the install.

Line-out of tuner is going to my onboard Line-in.

I get sound from aplay, sound card works fine. I plug my speakers directly into the tuner as a test and that doesn't work either.

There are a few posts/Wikis on this tuner card but they seem to work out of the box, just not in stereo or other problems like that. Mine has no audio at all. Video works fine though

Where can I start the troubleshooting process?

Thanks

I have since got it working better by loading saa7134-alsa via modprobe. Then in a startup script run:
/usr/local/bin/v4lctl -c /dev/video0 volume mute off

I now have horrible audio quality (hissing and static), nothing I've done has fixed that yet.

modprobe saa7134-alsa

That's only if your card uses saa7134.

thnx alot! I've got sound working, first realy bad but then I checked the levels in alsamixer and they were 100% so I lowered them and now its good.

Can't mute the line-in though in alsamixer so I've got the sound twice, think that's a driver issue with my soundblaster live.

If you figure out how to get rid of the dual echo let me know, my audigy just echos like crazy.

Your dual sound may be that the analog mix on the output is turned up, turn it off and it might fix your issue. If not I set my internals in the utilities/setup>setup>general on the fourth page set PCM to 50% and Master to 100%. and master as the control. The echo is there but can barely hear it.

Well I had the same problem with my BT TV card + onboard audio. There I just muted the Line-in and labled it as "Capture". The sound was synced and normal, but the Mute buttons don't seem to work in alsamixer with my SB card :S
