Dell Dimension 2400
Intel Celeron 2.2 ghz
1.128G RAM
PVR-150
Intel8x0 built-in sound card
40G Hard Drive
Knoppmyth R5D1 Mythtv 0.19

I can delete recording with no problem until I delete the last recording, then Mythtv freezes. The system IS NOT recording anything at this time also.

This is one of the mythtv bugs that has since been identified and fixed. Look for improved behaviour when you next update to a new version of Knoppmyth or Mythtv.

The other workaround for this is to use a different filesystem for /myth or /myth/tv. The default Linux/KnoppMyth filesystem of ext2 or ext3 can be slow for deleting big files. JFS or XFS are better. See this part of the doco:
http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-24.html#ss24.2
