Post subject: | Some questions abouEPIA M Series with MythTV |
Do these mobos with a 2 PCI Riser and 2 x PVR-250 work with MythTV? Can MythTV take advantage of the MPEG decoder on this mobo? Does the TV Out on these mobos work with MythTV? It seems like if the above can work that this would make the holy grail of back & front end settop boxen! Or is that just a pipe dream? TIA for any advice. I'm *this* close to buying this kit but am afraid of investing in a white elephant! JohnO |

Yes to all of the above. I personally probably wouldn't buy an Epia. |

Hmm, thanks. What would be your preference then? Cheers, JohnO |

Chaintech 7NIF2. My big problem w/ EPIA is the binary only drivers. |

Fair enough too! I cannot seem to find a supplier for Chaintech mobos in New Zealand (figures!) but there are plenty of other nForce2 based mobos that seem similar, such as: http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/it/m ... ?pro_id=49 Would that be suitable, or do mobos with the same chipset actually vary in their MythTV friendliness? Thanks very much for the ongoing comments, JohnO |

That should work! It however doesn't have TV out on board. There is another board similar to the Chaintech that has TV out on board, it's name however escapes me. |

I understand it has a tv-out 4 pin header on the board and a separate bracket with the actual tv-out connector, so I guess it uses up a pci slot in effect. Isn't it the same story on the ASUS A7N8X-VM? Cheers, JohnO |
