Just wondering if anyone has used this MB/case unit. Seems like a great combo with onboard DVI, nVideo 6150, S/PDIF Out (albeit in the front?) and Socket AM2 all in a small case.

I am looking for a HD FE that is quiet and small... not asking much. But this looks like it would fit the bill. Anyone using the ASUS P1-AH2 for KM? thoughts?

TIA

check the teir 1/teir 2 reports. i think a couple people have tried this with success.

i considered this barebones unit for my diskless FE. however it got mediocre reviews on silentpcreview.com for heat and noise. i guess it has a hard time keeping itself cool. the specs (with a good processor) will do HD, though.

Thanks for the input LMS. I did a search here, but couldn't find anything with that model number. There are a couple positive posts with the AH1 system which best I can tell is only the 939 chip instead of the AM2.

I can't seem to find the SilentPCReview article though. If you have a link...?

my apologies... i took a quick look at the pic in the newegg link and thought it was the "pundit-r." this is the model that is all over the silentpcreviews bboards as being seriously noisy.

they may have fixed this problem with the P1-AH2, but a quick review of the boards there makes it seem as though all ASUS barebones have noise issues. people have performed mods to fix the problems, so sounds like an ok tradeoff to do a little modding considering the small size.

i think the socket change is the only real difference between the AH1 and AH2. should be fine.

No problems. It seems to me that this board has everything but the kitchen sink on it... which always worries me unless there is a good history. But if Asus has got it right, it would be a great unit for a HD FE. If you go diskless it would be even quieter (and cheaper).
