Yes, I know this has been covered many times. But after lots of searching, I'm still very confused. Following the wiki articles and what not has not helped.

So, I have a PVR-150 card, that's hooked up (via Coax) to my Dish Network box. The PVR-150 came with an IR receiver/transmitter to allow me to use a remote/change the channel of the Dish Network box. (This particular tuner's IR blaster comes with a little jack (can't think of the size off hand, it's a small headphone jack) that plugs into the card). I told MythTV during the setup scripts that I had a Hauppauge remote, etc. etc.

But still, every channel is fuzzy. MythTV is clearly recieving the remote signals, but I don't think it's transmitting to the box, or something of that ilke.

(Yes, I made sure I didn't scan for channels, and I tried the wiki article on setting up MythTV for Dish Network. It didn't help, sadly).

it's a receiver not a blaster. you'll need a separate blaster

The PVR-150 non-MCE comes with a dual headed dongle which contains both an IR receiver for the remote and an IR transmitter to control an external tuner.

To set up the transmitter you need to use one of the Hauppauge 150 options but I don't remember which one. A search for "lirc-reconfig.sh" and "blaster" (don't forget the "search for all terms" checkbox!) should turn up something. There's a whole thread dedicated to this around here somewhere...

Both of my PVR 150 Model 1045 came with an IR Receiver/Blaster.

They are currently in two separate machines running two separate Dish 301 Receivers.

You need to do a little bit of Setup on that Lirc configuration to make it work with the included IR devices.

It isn't much however, and pretty much everyhting is there in your install.

I can say however and I have done it both ways, I found it easier to locate a couple pf pre built scripts for lircrc and the correct codes for settop box.

Pretty much everyhting you need to get the blaster working is right here

I don't know what model Dish Network settop box you have. I have found this works for a 301/311 and my newest 322 receiver on the IR receiver only. (322 also has an RF controlled receiver in it)

Anyway, on the Fuzzy channels thing, It may be your setup on the capture card or a bad cable. I don't use the tuner section for capture, I use the Svideo and they are pretty close to equally sharp. Fewer conversion steps in any video gives you a better picture and the Svideo seems to be the closest to the Decoded Digital stream coming off the Dish Receiver.

If you don't get there post back with some of your system specifics and someone here will help you out.

Regards!
