I'm running my box (unsucessfully) with a Hauppauge card. When the computer runs the card gets VERY hot. Some parts of the card are almost too hot to touch.

Is anyone else using the PVR-350 finding that it runs at stupid hot temperatures? If so, has anyone come up with a solution?

Do I just have a bad card?

What do you mean by unsuccessfully? I am just curious what problems you are having with your box. I run a 350 in my machine at home, I will check it out tonight and see how hot it gets. I have never noticed an excessive amount of heat coming off my card but that doesn't mean it is not happening.

by unsuccessfully I mean that it is very unstable. I'm begining to think that it could be the heat problem.

On my PVR-350 the tunner get very warm when it is in use, but the heatsink on the card get EXTREEMLY hot, even when the computer is idle and the card is not in use. If I leave the computer on for an hour and touch the heatsink it is almost too hot to touch.

I'll probably stick a fan on the PVR heatsink, but I don't want to buy a fan if it's only my card that is doing this.

Do you have good airflow in your case? I remember when one of my case fans went out, the PVR 350 got pretty hot (the card was also next to my Geforce 2 pro card which blew out quite a bit of heat). I put in a new fan that blew air toward the PCI slots and the card now only feels slightly warm. Supposedly the newer revision of the 250 uses a new heatsink half the size of the current one and it puts out less heat, but from what I last heard, you have to do extra crap to get the newer one working with mythtv.

I just bought 3 new fans:

2 case fans, one for inflow and one for out.
1 small fan to place on the PVR-350 heatsink.

When I get them all installed I'll let you guys know if it works.
