I finally have a working mythtv box thanks to knoppmyth and one of the last things to do is to get my sound card to work for surround sound. I have a Diamond Xtreme Sound 7.1 card that I bought from Fry's and it is in the mythtv box right now. When I go into the settings and allow DTS passthrough using the GUI I get no sound. I tried changing the sound card to the ALAS card that mythtv found but I never got sound. I also tried setting the Diamond card to the default audio device and plugged my RCA splitter into the audio out port but I still didn't get sound. I know my receiver allows the pcm pass through because my old computer would do it that way. Any suggestions on what I could try? or does anyone know if this card is supposed to be supported by knoppmyth out of the box? Any help would be appriciated because I am a total noob when it comes to testing and installing new hardware in linux. If anyone has a quick way to test the sound card that would be great too. It is really hard to set the setting and then back all the way back out to live TV just to see if I have sound. |
