i have a kt-400 Mobo with
onboard video
and via sound

I built two identical systems Both had these results

Music is almost ok but if you listen close there is distortion even with it not turned up all the way. So to me i could not listen to music on it

sounds fine with Video (although because video is much less diverse in sound i probley think it has similar problems to the music module

Snes and tux games...Forget about it! lol it sounds like nails on a chalk board. .lol

I switched to a SoundBlaster 5.1 live and WOW the sound problems cleared up. it sounds good!!!

This is just for reference for the via people out there.

I had the same problem with an EPIA M10000N motherboard. Changing the output to /dev/dsp1 fixed it.
