I upgraded Knoppmyth to the latest version recently, but have been having problems with the tuner turning dark red after a short time (anywhere from 20 seconds to 10 minutes). Once I change channels, the picture looks normal but then it will do the same eventually. Any ideas?
Winfast TV2000XP is the card (any more HW info needed?)

Installed the pcHDTV kernel or bttv 9.15(v4l2) from bytesex.org.

cesman I think this needs more explination, that the kernel installed by default in R4V3 has a bug in it that causes this problem. Are you saying some of the other kernels shipped with R4V3 do not have the bug? or that you need to download the new drivers and recompile or either or what?

The pcHDTV kernel uses V4L instead of V4L2 so it doesn't have the bug.

I am having the same problem with a Hauppage WinTVcard. It's fine for just watching live tv, but I am a tad concerned with scheduled recordings. What is the best solution? Reinstall? or is there a much smarter thing to do  ?

yes this will affect all software cards, probably the easiest thing to do would be to switch to the pchdtv kernel, and see if that works.

Switch kernels, eh? Sorry about the Linux idiocy (I am much better because of this project however - Thank you all!), but uh...well...I'll do a search and see if there is a good how to on switching. Then I'll come back begging!

Just read the README in /usr/src/debs/pchdtv_kernel/. A post has also been made on recompile bttv 9.15.

All right, I read some about dpkg and understand better what "To install" means; however, when I run dpkg -i kernel-image-2.4.25-chw_10.00.Custom_i386.deb, I get this:

perhaps to /lib/modules/2.4.25-chw.old or something, and then try
re-installing this image.

The README also says 'If you get errors use dpkg --force-overwrite -i kernel-*.deb'...

Could the link to the post referencing the recompile of bttv 9.15 be posted.
Also what is recommended pchdtv_kernel or recompile od bttv 9.15?
