Post subject:  No video from brand new Dragon 2.0

My Dragon 2.0 arrived today, and I eagerly started setting it up. I decided to use my Samsung HDTV as a monitor during setup, as well as the main TV for watching video.

I bought a DVI-to-HDMI converter, plugged the DVI end into my Asus EN6200LE graphics card, and the HDMI end into the HDMI-1 port on my Samsung. The TV wouldn't enable HDMI mode without an HDMI signal coming in, so I got ready to hit F2 on the keyboard to drop into BIOS while my wife got ready to enable HDMI on the TV.

It seemed to be working for a moment. The Samsung enabled the HDMI item on its video source menu, and my wife selected it. Once in HDMI mode, however, the TV displayed a blue screen with a "Seeking video" message. Powering down, then up, and pressing Reset a couple of times had similar results.

We thought perhaps the Dragon was sending the TV the wrong kind of video signal, so we tried plugging a VGA monitor into the VGA port of the Dragon's graphics card. The video indicator on the monitor glowed green for a moment, then went yellow, indicating no video. The screen was black.

Can anyone help me? Tonight, if possible? I really don't want to have to ship this machine back to get a new video card or something. We have been following the setup instructions scrupulously, but I'd be happy to hear this is user error. :(

Some more data points:

1. I thought the graphics card might be getting confused, so I unplugged the DVI/HDMI cable and left only the VGA cable plugged in. Same result.

2. I switched the VGA cable from the graphics card to the unsupported on-board VGA port. Same result: the monitor video indicator glows green for a second, then goes yellow-orange, showing no video.

Could this be a firmware problem? When I power up or hit reset, I can feel the KnoppMyth CD spinning up (if I leave it in), and the HDD light comes on for a few seconds, but I don't really have much other indication of system activity.

I'd probably stick with the VGA monitor for testing, and pull the video card out and see if you can get a picture (even the BIOS screen) with the VGA/Monitor.
Then put the video card back in, and see if you can get VGA on that (BIOS setup may be necessary to disable onboard VGA at that point).
But first, I'd talk to Mythic.TV! You haven't mentioned talking to them yet, which is a bit worrisome.

Solved!

StormLogic sent me some rudimentary troubleshooting suggestions, such as reseating the cards and memory, which might have shaken loose during shipping.

I took the top off the Dragon. Nothing seemed to be unseated, but I pressed down on the PCI cards and the memory sticks anyway. I hooked up the VGA monitor again and powered up. Voila! I got the boot sequence and a yellow screen telling me I needed to install KnoppMyth.

I appreciate StormLogic/Mythic.tv's responsiveness. It's a pleasure working with them.

Continuing the saga:

Later that day, I installed KnoppMyth and the machine attempted to reboot for the post-installation sequence so it could install the Nvidia drivers and so on. However, the Dragon wouldn't reboot and had the same video symptoms I mentioned earlier.

I called StormLogic and they walked me through a few tests, with no luck. They recommended I ship it back to them, which I did the same day. One week to get there and one week to return -- I should get it back around the 25th.

This has been a huge drag, but StormLogic has been responsive and professional. It's not their fault something apparently shook loose during shipment.

Thanks to the folk of the forum for helping out.
