I tried installing R5E50 on my rig on which R5D1 had previously installed and ran without problems. When I try to record something in MythTV I just get a blank screen, no sound, no picture. I have a Hauppage PVR-250. I know it is working because I did a "cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg", which worked.

In mythtv-setup, I coupled the /dev/video0, Tuner1 device to the Cable source. I think it is configured properly because it was able to scan the device for channels. mythfilldatabase ran successfully.

I did a fresh install, not an upgrade. The post-install configure script kept hanging on the import-channel-icons part, but I don't think that caused the problem. I commented out the parts that were failing so the script would finish.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Don't know why this got moved to Hardware. This is an Installation + Configuration problem. KnoppMyth is supposed to work out of the box with standard hardware. R5D1 did.

You don't want to scan for analog channels. From http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page ... WatchingTV -

Note - If you have a downloadable program guide like this you should not scan for SDTV channels since it will only screw things up.

Be sure to go through the entire link above, odds are very good the problem is something covered within.

I'm assuming you posted to Installation then?

You are post-installation...

Thank you for that link to the wiki entry. That helped me solve the problem. I had configured my card wrong (analog vs mpeg-2).

All is well now ... 'cept for my remote not working :/
