I have two choices of sound cards. soundblaster pci 128 which was not detected in ubuntu 6.10 or 7.04. When I put in a trident wave 4dx, ubuntu 6.10 saw the card, and I got it working once. when i installed mandrive, it did not see the soundblaster card, when the trident was in, mandriva picked it up and I got sound with the OSS drivers. With knoppmyth which I have heard logs of good things, which card would work out of the box at time of install? I have spent a month on getting sound to work on this computer and am getting frustrated. This is my room mates computer, and mine is on loan to her till hers gets fixed. she prefers KDE, and now hates windows. I have tried the OSS Drivers from opensounds website. i have tried 3 cards, and this is really getting me down, I dont know much about linux, i am close to being a newb. i have tried compiling and failed, and the fewer files i have to modify the better. Please help. thanks. |
