Post subject:  1360x768 over HDMI?

I have been using a VGA cable to connect my system up until last night. I am about to buy a new receiver that will do hdmi switching so the PC will be running through it so I am now using a dvi to hdmi cable. My attempts to set a modeline or use nvidia-auto stuff has failed me. No matter what I do I end up with a 1280x720 resolution. I am beginning to believe this is a effect of using the hdmi and maybe my tv.

Using R5E50
Samsung LNR267W LCD TV
NVidia Ti4200
nvidia drivers that come with R5E50.

Here is a the relevant chunk of the xorg.conf
Code:
Section "Monitor"
        Identifier      "Monitor0"
   #Option  "DPMS"  "FALSE"
   #Option  "UseEdidDpi" "FALSE"
        Option  "DPI" "100 x 100"
        Option  "IgnoreEDID"
HorizSync    30-61 # Warning: This may fry old Monitors
VertRefresh  60-75  # Very conservative. May flicker.

   #ModeLine  "1360x768" 85.500 1360 1424 1536 1792 768 771 777 795 +hsync +vsync
   #ModeLine  "1360x765" 84.11 1360 1392 1704 1736 765 780 788 804 +hsync +vsync
   #Modeline "Samsung-LE26-1360x768" 85.500 1360 1424 1536 1792 765 771 777 795 +hsync +vsync
               #1360 1440 1584 1800 768 769 772 795

   ModeLine "1360x768" 85.5 1360 1424 1536 1792 768 771 776 794 +hsync +vsync
   #Modeline "1368x768" 85.86 1368 1440 1584 1800 768 769 772 795 +hsync +vsync

EndSection

Section "Device"
        Identifier  "Card0"
        Driver      "nvidia"
        VendorName  "All"
        BoardName   "All"
        Option      "RenderAccel" "1"
        Option      "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP"
        Option      "UseDisplayDevice" "DFP-0"
   #Option      "ExactModeTimingsDVI" "true"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Screen0"
        Device     "Card0"
        Monitor    "Monitor0"
        DefaultColorDepth 24
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth     24
                Modes "1360x768" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
               #Modes "1368x765" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
               #Modes "nvidia-auto-select"
        EndSubSection
EndSection

You can see I have tried a bunch of junk along with many others.

It sounds like the Option "ExactModeTimingsDVI" "true" would be what I need, but the moment I uncomment this my tv just says unsupported mode.

Information from my TV's manual
Code:
Resolution: 1360x768
Hor: 47.712
Ver: 60.015
Pixel Clock: 85.800
Polarity: + / +
Overall Frequency Range
Hor: 30-61
Ver: 60-75

The only other PC have have that runs windows and has a DVI port is an older laptop. When I connect it to the LCD it defaults to 1280x720, but gives me other choices in the properties. when I select any other resolution it throws the tv into 1920x1080 interlaced and looks horrible.

If you have any ideas please let me know. I am willing to try anything at this point.

One thing I noticed about your xorg.conf is that your calling for the 1360x768 resolution in the screen section, but you commented out all the 1360x768 modelines. I just setup my Samsung LNS2651D with a VGA connection at 1024x768. These things are a bit picky if they don't have the exact timings.

Ah, I see that now. I was in the process of switching back from trying the auto nvidia stuff. I edited my post above so it looks like I didn't pick something completely stupid.

Check the monitor specs - many (most) hdmi ports are limited to a maximum resolution (I have two and both are limited to 720p).
