I have just upgraded to R5F1 and it is all mostly working, with one exception. I used to be able to press ctl-alt F1 to get to a shell. Now, I seem to get into some strange video mode and all I get is a white screen until I switch back to the gui. I am pretty sure it is due to the video mode it is trying to use.

I have a 1920x1080p display with an nvidia card.

How do I change the video mode it would use in the shell?

Did you enable bootsplash? This tends to mess up the virtual consoles which are reached by Ctrl-Alt-F1, Ctrl-Alt-F2, Ctrl-Alt-F3, Ctrl-Alt-F4, Ctrl-Alt-F5, Ctrl-Alt-F6. Your best short term solution is probably to pop up an Xterm as mythtv using Alt-X and use su - to become root.

See this thread for proof that these questions seem to come in clusters... ;-) http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10793

Yes, it would seem that the boot splash is enabled by default in the new version. How can I turn it off?

I tried a ctrl-alt-F1 the other day and the screen had this crazy pattern of green and black blocks and wouldn't respond to my keyboard. I'm using a TV with component inputs, so perhaps Alt-X is the only way for some of us.

From /usr/local/bin/config_bootsplash.sh

If you have an issue, you can re-run config_bootsplash.sh to disable it.
