I've been working on my KnoppMyth install for two weeks now and can't seem to get it to work. Just so you know, I'm using a PVR-250 that's probably about 6 years old. The problem is that I can't get a real picture at all. Basically all of my channels look the way that some channels look like when they're blocked by the cable company. You probably know what I mean - you can kind of see a picture, but the colors are off, little vertical hold, and it's an overall fuzzy picture. I've done everything on the troubleshooting page related to the BlackScreenWatchingTV. Nothing. I've got the latest KnoppMyth install, Linux v. 2.6.18, and upgraded to IVTV 0.10.3. I've tried changing the frequencies from STD to HRC to IRC. I've even hooked up an antenna, made the appropriate software adjustments. Still nothing. I've tried finetuning the channels. Some settings got a tad better, but most were only the same or worse. Does anybody have a clue what could be wrong? I'm starting to wonder if it's the card, but I don't have a functioning Windows desktop to double-check on at the moment.

So where did you post the information from the logs as described there? If you want help debugging a hardware problem we need that diagnostic information. That's why the BlackScreenWatchingTV page keeps referring you to the CheckingLogFiles page. The output of v4l2-ctl --all --list-ctrls would also be helpful.

I'll send these when I get home. What log files would you like? Some of the ones that are referenced in that link (which I've checked before) have a few thousand lines to them...

Also, how would I get the output of v4l2-ctl --all --list-ctrls? Sorry, I'm pretty new at this.

What log files would you like? Some of the ones that are referenced in that link (which I've checked before) have a few thousand lines to them...

Thats why that page also tells you what to search for and how to extract the relevant portions, complete with copy & paste ready example commands. If you ssh into the box (possibly using something like "putty" in MS-Windows) you can paste the examples right into a shell session and copy the output right into a posting.

OBTW - It helps if you put the output inside of a

markup block so it preserves the formatting...

So far that looks pretty sane. It's one of the original PVR-250 cards which were really just PVR-350 cards without the TV output hardware. It's even got the MPEG decoder... Have you checked the signal quality of the input and the rest of the stuff on the PictureQualityIssues page?

Hopefully this is what you're looking for. Following http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CheckingLogFiles, dmesg | grep "tuner model is TCL M2523_.*_E" returns nothing, and more /var/log/Xorg.0.log doesn't show any warnings or errors. I apologize for not being too familiar with this. Please let me know if there are any other important commands I've missed that you need from me.
