Post subject: | Question: 2 Video Out (double video cards) |
Hey Guys... Im going to be moving shortly in to a new home that is running all russound system (mutiroom video and audio). I currently have a system with a MBE and a SBE (SBE is a frontend in my livingroom) and am wondering about consolidating everything down to 1 box (getting rid of the SBE and leaving the MBE connected to the russound equipment) Question is, can i run dual video cards to support 2 seperate frontend streams for mythtv? ie be able to operate 2 systems with remote controls and everything. My remote gear I have is a Microsoft remote (usb receiver) as well as my IR Blaster (commandir) can pick up signal as well. Thanks for everyones help ahead of time. -Scott |

I have read of people setting up two X displays and running a frontend in each one (I did it with VNC once). I think you will have a problem with sound though.... Even if you have two sound cards, I don't know if it is possible to enter different soundcards for the two frontend sessions in the setup. It might be possible... but you have to consider both video and sound.... |

Yeah your right, I didn't think of sound. Im more worried about power consumption, and of course space in my new server room (under the basement stairs on the new house, all nice and rack mounted)... Hmmmm.... anyone else have any other suggestions? |

You could possibly virtualise your setup. That is get one good machine and run 2 VMs, one as MBE and the other as a simple FE. If you had the cash and the effect you could even get a SAN and this would give great speed access to the data. |
