Post subject:  Chaintech AV-710 : How to enable analog audio?

I have build a KRP system in my computer lab and don't have access to a digital amp.

I am using a pair of headphones plugged into the lime green plug at the back of the AV-710.
I set the appropiate volume levels in aumix.

I cannot get sound in any app, be it MythTV, democracy or iceweasel.

I have also tried the front panel plugs, same difference.

How do I get sound out of this machine?

Did you watch the setup instruction flash?

Incidentally, don't you have an analogue tuner??

What setup instructions. Everything I could catch has been documented above.

What's that go to do with anything? The jacks on the tuner card are for INPUT, the small jacks on the Chaintech AV-710 are mostly for OUTPUT. Only line-in (light blue, rear) and microphone (pink, front panel) record sound.

I want to use the small analog jacks on the Chaintech rear and front panel for analog sound output. Both digital (SPDIF) and analog (stereo / surround) should be enabled.

I really can't make it plainer than that.

I'm building this system for someone else who has no computing knowledge, and wants to use it as a TiVo and networked multimedia center. That's it. They should have sound no matter wether they use the TV's speakers, high-end dts system or a pair of wireless headphones. And I certainly can't ask them to fart around on the command line to switch between those.
