I am using my xbox as my frontend. The problem is that the video has I guess I could call them lines when there is motion on the video when it is relatively still it is perfect. Is there some way that I can fine tune this. I also noticed that when I reduced the image size with the over/underscan in the utilities section that it can be drastically improved but it is to small for the screen. The TV is a JVC HD-52G787 D-ILA. I using component hookup. Also is there something on the backend that I should be looking into for improvement like my video card or does that make no difference on the frontend.

Select Bob deinterlacing in settings -> tv settings -> playback (from memory).

I have tried just about every option with this but, I think what the problem is is called scaling or interlacing artifacts. Something like that. I think that if I could compile myth on it and then I could install the nvidia legacy driver and possibly use xvmc. Its just a thought I still don't know for sure I haven't got around to that yet. I will post later.

I had exactly the same problem. made watching the soccer world cup a pain!

There is a setting for how to handle interlacing. I cant remember which I am using, but it looks perfect now

I've got 2 xboxes (both running XBMC) and I've never noticed any interlacing troubles on my recordings.... sometimes on a rented DVD i'll get that, but I just pop into the settings and set it to deinterlace and then it's good to go.

Are you running XBMC on your xbox, or some other player?

I don't have a working myth system at the moment, but once I get the new release installed and running I"ll see how my playback performs (though I expect it will be flawless as always.)

Here's where I've been downloading my XBMC updates from, if you are in need of a newer version.

I'm not currently running the latest version, I haven't updated in probably close to 3 months..... but still, this may be helpful if your version is ultra old or something.

Ya I have XBMC on both and when I watch my file through xbmc they are perfect but, when I watch livetv on my myth (xebian) frontend they have interlacing trouble. Not really sure if it is coming from my backend being sent like that or if it is actually myth on the xbox that is creating the problem. IMHO its a little of both. But, I send hook up my FE/BE via DVI to HDMI cable and it looks flawless, but again I don't know if that is because of a good modeline. I will keep testing but it is very time consuming.

why dont you use the xbmcmythtv script? Then it will just playback using xbmc, which you have said works perfect

I have been using that but for some reason I can't get the recordings to play through that it keeps giving me an error saying "Index out of range" so I watch them through samba in videos and I linked the myth/pretty folder and thats not too bad but I am sure that SD should be alot better.
