I have a single PVR-150 card in my machine. Tuner 1 is connected to an antenna for over the air channels. The S-Video input is connected to my Dish network receiver. This setup worked in R5F1. I was able to tune to either over the air stations or the Dish network stations.
In R5F27, mythtv will only tune to channels that are on the default video source. So if I set the default video source to Tuner 1, I can watch local stations, but attempting to turn the channel to a dish network station fails. The screen will blink, and then go back to the previous channel. Also the IR blaster doesn't blink so it is failing before it trys to use the change channel script.
This is how my input connections look:
Input Connections
[MPEG : /dev/video0] (Tuner1) -> broadcast
[MPEG : /dev/video0] (S Video 1) -> dish
Here is the error message from /var/log/myth/mythtbackend.log:

ATSC (HDTV) is invalid for a NTSC (SDTV) capture card like the PVR-150.
Even if the source is HD, you're recording it via s-video which is limited to SD resolutions. You need to adjust your settings so that it knows that the Dish receiver is sending an NTSC signal via the s-video input.

I've go the same problem. I went from R5D1 to R5F27 and lost the ability to switch between tuner1 and svideo1 while watching live tv.
I'm using the sources the same way, coax for over-the-air channels and svideo1 for directv.
With R5D1 I could seamlessly change between channels 5-39(over the air) and 100-800(directv).
Oddly enough, schedules programs record correctly, so I know Mythtv is still capable of switching between the two sources. I just can't seem to switch between the two under the "watch tv" option(by pressing the 'C' key on the keyboard).

Poking around, I found this from the IVTV list...
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/i ... put;#36272
Quote: These patches also make an important change in the behavior of the driver: if a capture is in progress, then it is no longer possible to change inputs or open the radio device. EBUSY is returned as an error.
This could be the issue ?

Looks like it be related to me. Now I just have to figure how to try the patch. Thanks for the info.

Same symptoms as nlin1996. I'm using a Cablebox with IR Blaster and direct cable.

I had a similar problem when converting my R5E50 MBE over to R5F27.
Here is the workaround that worked for me:
Instead of setting a single tuner card using BOTH inputs, I set the card up twice, once using only the standard coaxial input, and a second time using only the (in my case) composite input. Effectively this gives me two different tuner card entries.
That way instead of hitting the C key to change the input source, I use the Y key to advance to the next tuner.
I used two different channel lineups for each of the inputs, and, so far, it seems to work just fine. Both inputs have different tuner values, to avoid any potential complications.
Of course, since I have four cards installed, and almost never use my Myth box to watch live TV, your mileage may vary.
I also have a different card setup with two inputs, one for cable, and one for directly recording from DVD,VCR, or Camcorder, and it does seem to switch to the composite input using the C key, perhaps because the input has a custom lineup created just for this type of use.
Don't know if this helps or not, but, for what it's worth...

thanks davej45
that did the trick.
i had read the ivtv patch info but the problems it solved weren't the problems i was having. the backend looks a little messier with all the redundant inputs but it works!

One of the things I forgot to mention is that I set the tuner value on the coax input of the card to a higher value than the composite input.
This effectively prevents the coax tuner being used before the composite tuner can be used, to help prevent a conflict where MythTV tries to use the shared tuner for two different recordings.

That or a valid channel changer script for the composite input with the correct exit code...
BTW - I just want to clarify that using /bin/true here isn't magic, it's only a trivial program that always returns an exit code indicating success (0). You could also use a "do-nothing" tuner script like this:
Code: #!/bin/bash exit 0
This matters in the case where you might actually want the tuner script to do something else like delayed settings or writing something to the OSD.
