If you have the Realtek onboard network cards such as on the new Biostar 7050/7025 motherboards (chips RTL8168B/RTL8111B) then you need to upgrade your network drivers.

This is for R5F27. The included drivers are 1.05, but 8.003.00 needs to be installed instead (for the 2.6.x kernels). Without it, I got network dropouts and even system crashes after a few days. The drivers worked fine at first, but things always broke down after awhile. After updating, the crashes went away.

Code:
wget ftp://210.51.181.211/cn/nic/r8168-8.003.00.tar.bz2
tax xjf r8168-8.003.00.tar.bz2
cd r8168-8.003.00
make clean modules
make install
depmod -a
insmod ./src/r8168.ko
/etc/init.d/networking restart

If you have a different chip, check your version and make sure it supports the linux kernel 2.6.x instead of just 2.4.x.
