Post subject:  'C' key in WatchTv

Can anyone confirm that the 'C' key for switching tuner inputs doesn't work in WatchTv with R5F27? I used to use this with R5D1. I'm trying to figure out if I've got something setup wrong, or if this is normal behavior with this version of Knoppmyth.

Sorry about that. Where is this question most appropriate? Hardware or general?

Post subject:  Tuner C Key works

Yes the C key dos work in WatchTv with R5F27. I have three pcHDTV-3000 with only one card set up for analog. If I "Y" key to the correct tuner the "C" key will switch that tuner between digital and analog. The "C" key will do nothing for the other two cards that do not have the mythbackend set up.

So, on the card that does have two inputs, the 'C' toggles between them successfully?

Yes but you have to set it up in the mythtv backend setup menus
(4. Input connections) first. or it will not work.

That's strange. I did setup tuner0 as my first channel list and s-video0 for the other one in the backend setup. When I try to switch between them in watchtv I can only see the one setup as the default input for the card.

I installed R5F1 and the 'C' key started working. Then I went back to R5F27 again and 'C' failed again.

Did you do anything special other than create the channel lists and the inputs in the backend setup?

What capture card do you have?
How many cards do you have installed?

Make sure you stop the backend or you will not see all of the options available.
Code:
Alt+2     to stop backend

For a pcHDTV-3000 I go to mythtv backend setup menus
Code:
Alt+S        to enter backend setup

"2. Capture Cards" and choose "Analog Options"
In Analog Options set your default Input and hit finish to save.

"4. Input Connections" You should see all of your input options
in my case I have my tuner 3, DVB2 set up like this

DVB................input for digital TV............Name: DTV Tuner 3
Television........for analog TV...................Name: ATV Tuner 3
Composite1.....for composite input...........not set up
S-Video...........for S-Video input..............not set up

For television set your video source and starting channel and make sure you give it a name so you have something to see when it switches inputs.

One problem I did have here is that Fetch Channels from listing source did not create any analog channels. All my digitals are correct but the analog channels I had to manually program. Schedules Direct is set correctly.

Exit Backend Setup and
Code:
Alt+3    to restart backend

When I start watching TV mine starts with DTV Tuner 1. I have to push the "Y" key to cycle threw to DTV Tuner 3 and then I can push the "C" key to switch to ATV Tuner 3

Note: If you do not have analog setup on the card you are currently viewing and you choose and analog channel to tune to "which you can" it will tune to the next digital channel and disregard your request. Digital TV is default.

Normally you would set up analog on all three cards but I have different antennas attached to different cards

I am not trying to be condescending here I just want to leave information for others.

Post subject:  change input is broken for ivtv

There are some other posts that are relevant to this but I've lost track of them. The short form is that a (relatively) recent change in the ivtv driver prevents it from changing inputs once it's already recording. (You can still use multiple inputs for recording, but LiveTV is "broken" for all but the primary input.) Someone posted a "work around" that involves defining another tuner in mythtv that points to the same ivtv capture card; it works, but it's dangerous because myth can end up thinking it can record two things at the same time with the same hardware. (I don't know exactly what would happen, but it wouldn't be good.) But it does work for me to let me watch the occasional video from the vcr hooked to my composite input.
