Hi * Recently I saw quite nice announcement about barebone perfectly addressing diskless Myth fronted (well it has internal bay for HDD, but as myth can run diskless I considering it as useless). Here is link http://www.silentpcreview.com/article756-page1.html Reviewed barebone is 6150 based. As MSI discontinued 6150 based Mobos, new model is on horizon: http://www.hipergroup.com/English/produ ... 3a-a3.html This one is really nice: has HDMI, IR receiver. Lacking is SPDIF (maybe USB->SPDIF is a workaround) It is based on AMD 690G (x1250 video) and SB600 chipset. Q to community: how well AMD690G (especially X1250 video engine) northbridge & SB600 southbridge is supported under Linux&Myth. I mean 720p/1080p/i & h264 hw decode. Is HDMI port on this mobo has also SPDIF suported by ALSA? thx |

For example, the VFD display has no Linux drivers and Hyper refuses to supply any information. Quote: Reviewed barebone is 6150 based. As MSI discontinued 6150 based

I don't know if the X1250 is one of the chipsets for which AMD has offered up specs, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for XVMC for ATI chipsets from either closed or open source drivers. |

Well - it seems like MS used classical tactics: we will give You necessary details for designing i.e VFD but on the condition that You will prefer us...hell ATi has probably similar problem. Having fast CPU (3..4G PR is easy now) - lack of xvms starts to be really minor issue now. My experience with X2 4400 is - I can easy watch h264 1080i all software decded without issues (on Nv 6150). How it is with X1250 ? VFD unsuported on Linux looks like issue. Geez - I will ask these guys "why the hell are You doing such mistakes" Expect follow here... |
