I have a Kworld PlusTV HD PCI 120 tuner. It's an inexpensive NTSC/ATSC/FM tuner, and I don't think it supports QAM, but 'after rebate' it's ten bucks at newegg right now. It also comes with a small IR remote. I needed a digital OTA card so thought I'd try it with MythTV.
I see people having success with the Kworld 110 and 115 cards, but this one comes up unknown in R5F27. Here's some output from dmesg:
cx88/0: cx2388x v4l2 driver version 0.0.6 loaded
cx88/2: cx2388x MPEG-TS Driver Manager version 0.0.6 loaded
cx88[0]: Your board isn't known (yet) to the driver. You can
cx88[0]: try to pick one of the existing card configs via
cx88[0]: card=<n> insmod option. Updating to the latest
cx88[0]: version might help as well.
Is there a insmod choice or something else that works for this card? It's uses a silicon tuner, unlike the 110 or 115, but I know some other manufacturers use similar hardware. The decoder chip is a Conexant CX23880-19. Any information is appreciated!

Thanks Marc,
I believe the Kworld 120 is a completely different animal than the 110 or 115. A different tuner type for sure, but I can't find much detailed information on it. I'm still looking.
I just tried the procedure on the wiki that works for a 115, but it seems to have no effect here. The card still comes up unrecognized. How can I tell if it's using the modprobe file?
In the backend V4L setup it says I have a video0, but only 4 composite inputs, no tuner. In the DVB video source section I see 'could not open card #0' So I can't get NTSC or ATSC with this yet.
Perhaps the card isn't supported, but if I want to try other card types do I simply edit my 'card=' line in the /etc/modprobe.d/kworkd120 file I created? I'm not really familiar with the process.
Is anyone having any success with these silicon tuners? I know Hauppauge and others use them now. If anyone has any ideas I'm open, but for ten bucks it's not really a heart breaker if I have to wait - or just use it on my Vista box for now.

kbeatty, I did a search and found the article at the link below Not sure if this will help, but just in case.

That is correct -- just change the number "90" to the tuner # you want to try. It also makes sense to look at /var/log/kern.log to see what gets logged.

Good searching Marc, thanks again!
It looks like I'm going to have to wait and see if this is ever supported in Linux. I knew it was questionable, but had to give it a try. I just purchased a Dvico lite to use instead, but I'll keep checking on this one and perhaps use it in one of my KnoppMyth backends some day.
Thanks for the ideas and information, I really appreciate it. If I discover anything more about this card I'll post it here.

FYI on the rebate: I purchased a kworld-115 many months ago for $20 after $30 rebate. The rebate didn't show up after 14 weeks. I had saved copies of all the rebate forms as scanned images, so I emailed them a message asking about my rebate, with all the attached images. They replied 48-hours later saying that my rebate was approved and it arrived 10 days later.
So if you don't get your rebate in the time line it's supposed to arrive, it's worth contacting them...
