Can any one tell me if they got NTSC working with the Kworld ATSC 115?

I got the ATSC and Qam going ok, but not the NTSC.

I never had sound for it and I have the saa7134-alsa module loaded.

I can scan for the channels, but when i watch them they used to come in ok, but now just show up for a second and disappear.

I'd love to hear from you

Start mythfrontend with -v all (or playback) and see what it says in the logs when you tune a channel.

Use the patch cable to loopback the 115's audio out to line-in on your audio card (or MB) and see if you get sound.

I haven't tried NTSC on my 110 (just QAM) but am curious how well it works.

On the loopback cable i get nothing, I even took headphones and pluged them in. Zero sound coming out.

Using mythfrontend -v all I get alot of the following, repeating:
2007-11-14 16:27:22.775 AO: Broadcasting free space avail
2007-11-14 16:27:22.775 AO: audio waiting for space on soundcard: have

Warpfactor: 0.999554, warpfactor_avg: 0.999782
2007-11-14 16:27:22.782 AO: audio waiting for space on soundcard: have

2007-11-14 16:27:22.788 AO: audio waiting for space on soundcard: have

2007-11-14 16:27:22.794 AO: audio waiting for space on soundcard: have
3640 need 4096
2007-11-14 16:27:22.801 AO: Broadcasting free space avail

With mythfrontend -v playback I get a lot of the following:

2007-11-14 16:39:24.367 A audio timecode 5156
2007-11-14 16:39:24.367 A audio timecode 5179
2007-11-14 16:39:24.368 A audio timecode 5202
2007-11-14 16:39:24.368 A audio timecode 5226
2007-11-14 16:39:24.368 A audio timecode 5249
2007-11-14 16:39:24.371 A audio timecode 5272
2007-11-14 16:39:24.371 A audio timecode 5295
2007-11-14 16:39:24.371 A audio timecode 5319

If you need to see the complete files let me know. I'm not sure if this is normal or not.

On a different note: The system with this Kworld ATSC 115 card in it dual boots from KnoppMyth and Sidux (Debian Sid) and I installed kdetv on Sidux just to see if NTSC would work with that. I could scan the channels and I got a good picture but STILL NO SOUND. And here's the best part of this little story... I didn't install the firmware for the modprobe to load (dmesg shows that it fails). So the NTSC part of the card (at least the video of NTSC) has nothing to do with the firmware.

I've also tried loading the saa7134-alsa module and leaving it out. Both with the same result of no sound. And if I have the module loaded and alsamixer -c 1 , the program hangs. ( On Sidux the alsamixer doesn't hang, so that must be fixed in later alsa releases )

thanks

I had to make some changes to alsa. I used the alsamixer and made a change to the setup of the audio for the atsc110 to work with ntsc and audio.

But did you have a picture before your sound, because I don't even have a picture of NTSC?
