Due to the writers strike I have been catching up on some of my earlier recorded stuff.

I ran across one recording that has a really weird issue.
I start watching it, then it freezes and exits after a few seconds.
It usually will not save the position, but I can restart it and skip past that point, it will play again go along for a few seconds and then freeze and exit again.

Sometimes the freeze is a few seconds other times it is immediate.

This is on my primary frontend/SlaveBE. The show has had commercials flagged and then edited out. I believe it may have been transcoded as well but I can't directly confirm that. I ran a commercial flag on it again but that didn't make a difference.

It has the same playback issue on the MBE, so it appears it is definitely in the recording.

I have checked the logs on this machine and also the MBE but I cannot find any oddities for this. In fact there are no errors on these machines, they are seriously stable.

Any thoughts?

Hardware is in my SIG. This is the first SBE.

I tired xine and VLC, this is .nuv files so xine didn't know how to work with them. VLC would play it and it would freeze at exactly the same place.

I was playing it through a window started from a term and vlc said something about not able to read ahead and no data. The file reported correct size looking at it on the disk.

I was able to find it being rerun next week, so I deleted it and will wait for that one before we finish that season of the show.

Thanks again.
