Western Digital posts their noise specs on their website, so perhaps the other vendors do, too. In my experience, if noise specs are absent, it means they are very noisy drives

I'm having problems with my box, but rather than mess with a sort of working setup, I'm going to pickup another hard drive that I can swap in, do a fresh install, and then when it's working right, copy all my stuff over. These two drives are the same price, just not sure which one is better in terms of quality and noise levels. See http://www.silentpcreview.com/ and http://www.storagereview.com/ Both post reviews with sound measurements. SilentPCReview even goe s as far as to include audio recordings so you can check the acoustic character yourself. |
