Acquired a 6600GT from a work colleague and I'm interested to know if it would make a big difference to the performance of my box. Keeping in mind that I _do_ rely on XvMC to watch HD.

I'd be surprised if it made much of a difference. The main reason for upgrading from a 5200 would be to get a quieter card (if you are not already fanless) or to get DVI (if the 5200 you have doesn't have it).

I have both and see no difference. My 5200 is fanless and has both a DVI and VGA output.

Well Decided to plug it in and have a look. Was a card I picked up cheap, so I was buying it regardless. Always good to have Nvidia AGP cards laying around.

TBO I have noticed, not a significant amount, but some improvement when watching HD. It used to really get Jerky when adjusting the volume etc. It seems a little better now, still jerks but nowhere near as much.
