I'm looking to buy a new system, but I'd like one with an excellent picture via a BUILT-IN, Nvidia compatible video with a built-in Svideo/DVI interface.

Now I don't need state-of-the-art, just a basic system, cheap, if possible [grin].

Are there any recommendations? Or, would everyone recommend a basic system and buy a PCIX video card.

Just some FYI:

Although PCIX is faster (memory bandwidth) than PCI (4x as I recall), AGP
(e.g. APG 8x) is faster than that. If you are considering really high def high
def (like 1080p) there are two things that help a lot:
- fast CPU
- fast Video card (with accelerated video playback)

Most video card video playback acceleration is only for mpeg2.

Nvidia video chip sets currently seem to have the best support for
accelerated mpeg2 playback.

So if I'm buying a motherboard with Nvidia Svideo builtin, should the motherboard specs specifically show "accelerated video playback".

I've found some MBs with the following:

Chipset: nVidia GeForce6100 & nForce 430

Is this decent?

You haven't mentioned what you want to playback (HDTV, SDTV, videos (what type), etc.). I use the Asus M2NPV-VM in 2 of my frontends, plays everything I've thrown at it so far. Uses the NVIDIA GeForce 6150 + nForce 430 chipset, has a bracket for SVideo and component connections (DVI & VGA onboard)

I would recommend searching through the forums once you have a specific board in mind, to see if anyone else uses it and if they encountered any issues.
