I have a system on my living running Win XP and SageTV with Directv for recording purposes, and i bought the mediamvp box on my room, but its simply a piece of crap, the subtitles works randomly on divx files, and get audio out of sync and lot of more problems, so i'm planning to grab this box and dispose it, and make a linux box, the smaller as possible and quiet as possible. The only thing that i want to do with it, is to play video files (xvid, divx, wmv) with subtitles (srt files), also it would be great to hear some mp3s, but thats all, all the files are on the windows xp system, so i need this to be able to connect through the network. I want the minimun specs and if possible at all, the smaller so i can hide it somewhere, also it would be great to have a remote control to handle it. Thanks in advance for your tips!! |

If you're using a monitor you could probably get away with a Compaq iPaq. Its a very small computer, you can find them on ebay and pacificgeek.com. Try and get one with a 1mhz PIII and as much RAM as possible, and a minimum 10gb hard drive. Windows XP computers are easily connected with a mythtv box. |

I'm using a wireless ps/2 keyboard for a remote control. But do a forum search for other options. |

What about an MCE remote and keyboard, are they compatible with Mythtv? |

If that's all you're looking for I'd say a softmodded Xbox running XBMC is your best option. |
