Post subject: | ATI + HDHomeRun channels randomly all fuzz |
Well I just built my new HD knoppmyth system. I have a spare PCIX ATI x1300 card laying around so I figured i'd use that. Installed the AMD/ATI drivers and got that to work. After a few issues with the SATA dvd burner (that installed knoppmyth fine) I replaced it with a pata one. It detected the hdhomerun tuner perfectly but here's the problem. When I go to watch tv, some channels will work fine, but some won't. Mostly the original (non-widescreen, non-hd) channels will work, but when a hd channel comes up it usually goes all fuzzy lines (the blue browse menu with the channel number and stuff is also not visible). the audio still works. However occasionally hd channels will work and look fine. Also the affected channels vary every time. I know it's not the tuner as all channels come in fine when playing through vlc on my windows machine. I'm thinking it's something to do with the ATI card. It's displaying on a plasma tv with a DVI->hdmi adapter. EDIT - VERY INTERESTING DEVELOPMENT I just found this trick. Whatever channel I start on usually works. Then I can change around and about 20% of channels will work and 80% will be fuzz. But, if I stop on a HD fuzz channel and exit watch tv mode then come back to watch tv mode, when it comes back the channel will display fine. Edit also sometimes the fuzz will be completely random (unable to see anything but colors) but other times you can see 2 or 5 of the actual picture windowed across the screen and very fuzzy. Any advice? |

Issue fixed by using a nvidia card. Although, It took ALONG time to install nvidia drivers. Must have tried about 10 different ones (knoppmyth did not detect) and finally got one that could recompile the kernel and is now working. Still have to figure out modlines though. |

awesome, thanks I will look into that! Thanks, that second example worked great when the info was changed to match my tv/vid card. |
